Life is Not Worth Living To Prove Your Self Worth To Yourself Or Anyone

First and foremost, I want to point out the following:

  • I don’t mean to offend anybody. I am just expressing my anger, hurt feelings, and emotions (maybe some of you can relate).

  • I am not angry at anybody, I am just angry at our culture of perfectionism and success. It cultivates a feeling of worthlessness, anxiety, and depression for people that have depression/anxiety disorders.

Of course, when it comes time to filling out our college applications, we are going to say we do all of our activities out of passion, right?

However, I get the impression from my fellow peers that we are mainly doing it for the sake of getting into our dream schools to learn our dream professions, rather than caring about the work we actually do.

We see our accomplishments, from a young age, as a set path to how successful we will be in the future, rather than seeing each individual as a human being that constantly learns and grows. Our acceptance into different school programs defines our self-worth as a person, rather than seeing it just as an institution with an application process. When we do fail, we see it as our shortcomings, rather than the opportunity to learn and grow.

We regard individuals that don’t have a high G.P.A. as not intelligent nor high achieving enough, and we fail to recognize that academic success is not the only path, disregarding the many other roads to success as well.

We care about how impressive our resume, and ourselves, looks, rather than how we can better our community and the world.

  1. we all do depend on public opinion. especially those who have lack of love. there is no unconditional love, that’s why we are constantly proving others our self worth to deserve love

    • I definitely agree. It is difficult to determine what we want in life, what we SHOUlD want in life, because throughout our life, we form our choices based on how we are raised. That is why, it is important for everybody to have access to guidance and support.
